The draws for provincial immigration took place on May 10. Four Canadian provinces issued invitations in this draw and invited over 589 PNP applicants. They needed a minimum CRS score of 691. In addition, this was the 4th PNP Express Entry draw that took place this year.

The PNP came into existence in 1998 to help provinces attract immigrants likely to establish themselves successfully in the region. Moreover, this was meant to spread the benefits of Canadian immigration instead of remaining focused in urban centers. All provinces in Canada, except for Nunavut and Quebec, have a PNP. Quebec has a specific agreement with the government that allows it to select all immigrants who want to reside in the province.

Provincial Immigration Results: May 5-12

Over 5,196 applicants were invited over four draws in the past week.

The applicants need a CRS score ranging from 475-482.  In addition, the province invited 2,349 applicants on May 8 in a draw focused on healthcare job roles. These were the same applicants who participated and applied in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. However, a minimum of 427 CRS score is needed to qualify.

There were also two days held on May 9. The first was under the International Student Stream. Moreover, the province invited 584 applicants for health and tech job roles. All applicants needed a score of 62 or higher.

The second draw on May 9 invited over 400 candidates from Foreign Worker Stream, with a minimum score of 43. Applicants only received an invitation if they currently reside in Canada and have job offers in targeted skilled trades job occupations.

2. Quebec

The draw where four Canadian provinces issued invitations; Quebec was second!

Quebec invited over 802 applicants to apply for permanent accommodation and selection under the Regular Skilled Worker Program. Each applicant required at least a score of 571. The draw took place on May 1, and the results came on May 4.

The province targeted candidates with various National Occupational Classification job roles and opportunities outside the area of Communauté Métroplotaine de Montréal.  While the province has autonomy over the immigrant selection, applicants who successfully get a Quebec Selection Certificate should apply to IRCC to become permanent inhabitants.

3. British Columbia

On May 9, British Columbia invited more than 150 candidates in four targeted draws for International Graduate Streaks and Skilled Worker Streams of the BC PNP. In addition, the draws included the applicants of Express Entry.  The largest draw focused on 93 applicants with technical job roles and a minimum score of 90 in SIRS, i.e., Skills Immigration Registration System.

The remaining three draws concentrated on 34 childhood educators and 23 applicants with healthcare job occupations & less than 5 in other priority occupations. Every draw had a minimum SIRS score of 60.

4. Prince Edward Island

The draw where four Canadian provinces issued invitations; Prince Edward Island was the last! The province held a small draw, wherein 122 candidates were invited under PNP’s Labor & Express Entry streams. The draw happened on May 4.

In addition, Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province but has the highest admission rates. Moreover, from the data from Census 2021, PEI has the third-highest share of Canadian immigrants selected as provincial nominees.
