IRCC will begin to accept test results from four new test results for Student Direct Stream applicants. The four tests will be effective from August 10, 2023.

The newly eligible tests are as follows:

  • CAEL
  • CELPIP General
  • TOEFL iBT Test
  • PTE Academic

All the test results of the Student Direct Stream must showcase listening, speaking, writing, and reading abilities.

In addition, CELPIP general tests must represent a score equivalent to CLB, i.e., Canadian Language Benchmark of at least 7 in all four languages abilities.

Moreover, CAEL and Pearson PTE Academic test results must show a score of 60. Furthermore, one must score 83 to get qualified for ETS, i.e., Education Testing Services TOEFL iBT Test.

It is vital to note that applicants must take these tests in person. Online examinations are not accepted for applicants in the Student Direct Stream. Before this change, IELTS Academic & IELTS General were the only two tests IRCC approved for Student Direct Stream applicants.

Canada – The Home Of 800,000 Foreign Candidates

IRCC reports that Canada hosted almost 800,000 foreign students at the end of 2022. This is the most significant number in the country’s history.

Canada’s foreign population has quadrupled since 2008 because of domestic & international aspects. Domestically, the DLIs and the government of Canada have recruited these foreign nationals for a host of social, economic, & cultural factors.

Internationally, the foreign applicant population has risen because of the increase in the global middle class. In addition, the country is seen as an excellent and attractive destination for foreign students because of its high-quality education, job opportunities, & multiculturalism.
