Three of the Canadian provinces have nominated applicants in the latest Provincial Nominee Program, i.e., PNP draw results. An applicant who obtains nomination by a province is likely to receive an ITA, i.e., Invitation To Apply for PR from IRCC. Well, this is because the provincial & federal governments share responsibility for Canadian immigration. Thus, being nominated by an area/ province indicates that the candidate is considered a good fit for the provincial labor force.

PNP draw results target economic immigration applicants who are most likely to integrate into the provincial economy. This could be because of their occupation, a family connection, or a strong intent to reside in the area/ province.

The likelihood of remaining within the province has also prompted Nova Scotia to update its selection criteria for the Experience Stream of NSNP, i.e., Nova Scotia Nominee Program. Since the program is effective from June 9, the province has changed its criteria only to select foreign graduates who have completed their studies within Nova Scotia. Those candidates who have graduated from other areas/ provinces will still be eligible to apply for a provincial nomination in Nova Scotia through various other streams.
