What Is Express Entry?

Express Entry oversees three economic immigration programs, i.e., FSTP, FSWP, & CEC.

Applicants in the Express Entry pool are evaluated on various human capital factors, like work experience, language ability, age, education, etc. In addition, they are given a CRS score & ranked alongside other applicants in the application pool. The applicants with the highest score are most likely to get ITAs.

On May 31, ITCC introduced a new category-based selection criterion that emphasized specific attributes instead of solely relying on a high CRS score. There are six new categories for Express Entry applicants:

  • Healthcare
  • STEM professions
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture/ Agri-Food
  • Strong French-Language proficiency

These categories were selected to help close Canada’s labor market gaps and promote the French language outside of Quebec.
