What Is Express Entry?

Being an application management system, Express Entry oversees three economic immigration programs, i.e., CEC, FSWP, & FSTP.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are evaluated depending on various human capital factors, such as age, education, language abilities, work experience, etc. Moreover, they are assigned a CRS score & ranked alongside other applicants in the application pool. The applicants with the highest scores are most likely to obtain ITAs.

On May 31, IRCC introduced new category-based selection criteria that place more emphasis on particular attributes instead of solely depending upon the high CRS scores. Following are the six new categories for Express Entry applicants

  • STEM professions
  • Healthcare
  • Transport
  • Trade
  • French-language proficiency
  • Agriculture/ Agri-Food

These categories/ classifications are chosen to help labor shortage gaps and promote the French language outside the province of Quebec.
