IRCC will seek direct input from newcomers on policy & service delivery with a new advisory board. This initiative was part of a report from IRCC titled ‘An Immigration System For Canada’s Future’.

Recently, the government of Canada released a report detailing its findings as well as an action plan, following months of consultation with numerous stakeholders on a new strategy for Canada’s immigration system.

As a part of that report, IRCC has outlined its plan to build an advisory body including people with lived experience in immigration to guide policy developments & enhancements in service delivery.

In addition, IRCC insinuates the fact that this part of the action plan will help with the department’s desire to create a more welcoming experience for newcomers.

Notably, IRCC lists this advisory council as an action focused on helping IRCC improve its communications & ensuring that the nation follows a human-centric approach.

IRCC’s New Advisory Body: Further Details

IRCC will seek direct input from newcomers as the number of people who use Canada’s immigration system is increasing. IRCC asserts that the way it delivers its services accounts for the fact that the users of the immigration system include individuals, families, as well as employees making life-changing decisions.

Moreover, as a part of this effort, IRCC has indicated that the planned advisory body will involve immigrants in a way which allows people with lived experience in immigration to offer advice & help strengthen policy & program development in a human-centric approach.

This advisory council will include newcomers with different perspectives & experiences within Canada’s immigration system, ranging from temporary residents to permanent residents

Well, this is not the first time that IRCC has sought to involve opinions of the public on immigration matters.

IRCC’s History Of Consulting The Public On Immigration

IRCC consistently conducts public consultations with Canadians to help IRCC make effective decisions regarding immigration policies & programs.

This year, IRCC has released consultation reports on the immigration levels of the nation. This includes the consultation which produced this advisory council component of IRCC’s action plan, as well as category-based draws, which were introduced as a part of Express Entry.
