Three Canadian provinces invite applicants in PNP draws. Through the PNP, provincial governments select economic immigration applicants who can economically establish themselves within a province & issue them an Expression of Interest (EOI) in order to apply for provincial nomination. The province’s nomination strengthens an applicant’s application for PR status in Canada.

If a province issues an EOI, the applicant must apply to the provincial government for nomination. This implies that they must submit the necessary documents & pay a separate fee to the province. This is in addition to any fees paid to IRCC for Express Entry or their PR application.

In addition, applicants can directly apply to a Provincial Nominee Program or get selected by the provincial government via the Express Entry application pool. Express Entry applicants automatically obtain an extra 600 CRS points on their Express Entry application if they successfully get nominated by a province.
