Four Canadian provinces, Ontario, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, issued this week’s provincial nomination results.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) aim to draw highly qualified workers to particular Canadian provinces. Candidates must fulfill a number of requirements in order to be eligible for a PNP, such as having relevant work experience, having a job offer from a Canadian company, and being eligible for immigration in general. To assess a candidate’s eligibility, each PNP uses a different score system, which may not be the same as the federal Express Entry criteria. It’s crucial to remember that PNP scores are unique to each province and cannot be directly compared between programs. A candidate’s chances of being chosen for immigration are higher if they fulfill all PNP requirements and score highly on the province’s scoring system.

Provincial Immigration Update – September 6-13

British Columbia

The BCPNP held a draw for the International Graduate stream of skilled workers on September 10, 2024, with an emphasis on applicants with work experience in in-demand fields. The Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option was supported by this draw.

The minimal score needed to be invited differed according to the profession:

  • Childcare Workers: A minimum score of 83 was needed (30 invitations issued).
  • Construction Workers: A minimum score of 89 was required (19 invitations issued).
  • Healthcare Workers: A minimum score of 99 was necessary (18 invitations issued).
  • Tech Workers: A minimum score of 117 was needed (84 invitations issued).
  • Veterinary Care Workers: A minimum score of 80 was required (at least one invitation issued).

Successful applicants can file for provincial nomination using these invites, which can greatly improve their prospects of being granted permanent residence in Canada.

806 individuals were invited to the first draw, which was held under the Employment Job Offer: International Students stream. Candidates required a minimum score of 67 and a job offer in a skilled craft or designated health occupation in order to be eligible.

That day’s third draw invited 647 individuals and was held under the Employment Job Offer: In-Demand Skills stream. Applicants had to meet the requirements of the stream and have a job offer in Ontario in order to be considered, with a minimum score of 34.

Inviting 1,269 individuals, the OINP conducted a second provincial selection on September 12th under the Human Capital Priorities stream. To be eligible, candidates had to have work experience in particular healthcare roles and a minimum score between 414 and 444.
