British Columbia and Ontario issued provincial nomination invitations for skilled workers through their PNP draw.

Either a combination of their skilled job experience and fluency in both English and French or their professional experience in high-demand sectors of the Canadian economy was used to determine which candidates to invite through two distinct draws.

Note: Every Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) uses a different scoring system to determine whether or not an applicant qualifies for immigration. It is not intended for these scores to be compared between various PNPs.

Provincial immigration outcomes from September 21 to 27

British Columbia

Through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) extended invitations to a minimum of 146 individuals on September 24. Candidates with professional experience in in-demand occupations in the province received invitations. Depending on the candidates’ level of professional experience, different cut-off scores and numbers of invites were sent out, as follows:

A minimum score of 83 was required for the childcare employment draw, and 42 invitations were sent out. The minimum score required for construction employment was 89, and 22 invites were extended. 24 invites were sent out in the healthcare industry with a minimum score of 99. With 57 invites sent out, the tech sector had the highest minimum score of 117. Finally, with a minimum score of 80, less than five invites were sent out for opportunities in veterinary care.

Recent graduates from qualifying Canadian post-secondary institutions can apply for permanent residency (PR) in British Columbia. They can do so through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate stream.  Applicants must hold a full-time job offer from a B.C. employer and have finished a degree, diploma, or certificate within the last three years in order to be eligible. A National Occupation Classification (NOC) TEER category 1, 2, or 3 must apply to the position.

Candidates must also fulfill some language criteria, obtain a wage offer that complies with British Columbian norms, demonstrate their financial stability, and be suitably suited for the role.

An improved provincial immigration pathway known as Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) is also available through this stream.

Furthermore, candidates in the federal pool can obtain a provincial nomination through enhanced streams. These streams are connected to the federal Express Entry system. This nomination raises a candidate’s CRS score by 600 points.

Ontario

Through the French-speaking skilled worker stream, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), which is Ontario’s Provincial Nominee Program, sent out 243 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to prospective immigrants on September 26. To be invited, candidates had to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 290 to 445.

Moreover, the French-speaking competent Worker stream provides qualified foreign workers with the necessary education, bilingualism in French and English, and competent work experience with the chance to be nominated by the Ontario government for permanent residency in Canada. To be eligible, candidates must receive an Ontario NOI and have an active Express Entry profile. Then, they can submit an online nomination application. Additionally upgraded, this stream is in line with the government Express Entry program.
