In the latest round of Express Entry invitations, IRCC extended 400 ITAs to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. To qualify, applicants needed a minimum CRS score of 547, marking the highest requirement for CEC candidates this year. Earlier, on November 12, IRCC issued 733 ITAs through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-focused draw.

This draw aligns with Canada’s recently unveiled 2025 Immigration Levels Plan, which anticipates admitting 124,680 Express Entry candidates in 2025. The ITAs issued today will contribute to the upcoming year’s intake goals, targeting either “In-Canada Focus” admissions or “Federal Economic Priorities.”

The In-Canada Focus pathway aims to admit 82,980 permanent residents, particularly temporary residents already in Canada, covering about 40% of the country’s economic immigration intake. Many will come from the CEC and PNP pools. Meanwhile, the Federal Economic Priorities pathway targets 41,700 admissions and emphasizes essential skills in healthcare, trades, and French-speaking candidates outside Quebec.

About Canada’s Express Entry

Express Entry is Canada’s application management system designed to facilitate permanent residence for skilled newcomers through three major economic immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). This system evaluates candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points based on a range of human capital factors, including age, occupation, language proficiency, education level, and work experience.

In addition to core human capital factors, candidates may receive additional CRS points for specific circumstances, such as having a sibling residing in Canada, applying with a spouse or partner, or holding a combination of education and work experience gained both in Canada and abroad.

Candidates applying through enhanced Provincial Nominee Program streams can also earn a substantial bonus of 600 points, which effectively secures an ITA in a future draw due to the significant increase in their overall CRS score.

Ultimately, each candidate’s CRS points are tallied into a total score, with the highest-ranking candidates receiving ITAs in upcoming Express Entry draws, as long as they meet the specific eligibility requirements for the draw’s category or type.
