Alberta issues more ITAs to provincial immigration applicants through four of its targeted immigration pathways.
Immigration applicants were invited for their work experience and ability to fill key labor gaps in different sectors of the Alberta economy.
A total of 165 invitations were issued through these draws.
Summary Of AAIP Draws (April 11 – April 22)
Alberta issues more ITAs to provincial immigration applicants. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program undertook the following draws between April 11 and 22, with varying draw sizes and cut-off scores through each pathway:
Draw date | Worker stream / pathway | Minimum score of invited candidates | Number of invitations issued |
22 April, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway | 71 | 22 |
17 April, 2025 | Alberta Express Entry Stream – Law Enforcement Pathway | 49 | 2 |
15 April, 2025 | Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 73 | 33 |
11 April, 2025 | Alberta Opportunity Stream | 77 | 108 |
Of note among these draws is that they feature the first Tourism and Hospitality stream selection of the year, and only the second draws through the Accelerated Tech and Law Enforcement Pathways in 2025.
In addition, the draw on April 11 is also one of the first general draws under the Alberta Opportunity stream in 2025, with previous draws having focused on professionals in aviation and construction.
On their website, the AAIP also features information on each pathway, including the number of nomination spaces remaining in each stream, the number of expressions of interest (EOIs) presently in the pool, and the current number of applications still to be processed. As of the time of writing, these are summarized in the table below:
Stream / Pathway | Nomination Spaces Remaining (2025) | Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in Selection Pool | Applications to be Processed |
Alberta Opportunity Stream | 1,529 | 35,479 | 1,501 |
Tourism and Hospitality Stream | 182 | 5,508 | 321 |
Alberta Express Entry – Accelerated Tech Pathway | 89 | 3,007 | 81 |
Alberta Express Entry – Law Enforcement Pathway | Not applicable
(Total 2025 allocation is 20 nominations) |
97 | > 10 |
Note the difference between invitations and nominations in the context of Provincial Nominee Programs like the AAIP.
Moreover, applicants in PNPs typically make EOI profiles first to indicate their interest in immigrating to a province through its provincial immigration program.
If selected, an applicant will further obtain an invitation to apply for provincial nomination from the province and must submit a complete application to the province for nomination.
If their complete application is approved, the foreign national will obtain a provincial nomination, which allows base PNP streams to apply directly to IRCC for permanent residence (PR).
For streams using the enhanced nomination process, the foreign national will obtain 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System points on their Express Entry profile. They would then wait to obtain an invitation to apply (ITA) for PR through an upcoming Express Entry draw, to which they can respond with a complete application for PR.
