BC, Alberta, & PEI issue provincial nominations this week. The provinces issued ITAs for applicants in various in-demand professions through respective provincial nominee programs.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program & Alberta Provincial Nominee Programs are two of the biggest PNPs in Canada. These programs offer immigration streams for experienced entrepreneurs, workers with in-demand skills, international graduates, & other newcomers based on both in & out of their provinces.

Provincial Immigration Results From February 10 – 16

BC, Alberta, & PEI issue provincial nominations this week. Here are the results for the same.

Note: Provinces & territories implement different scoring systems for their PNPs independently of each other. This results in different scoring grades & criteria that must not be compared.

  • British Columbia

BC PNP issued invitations this week through its Skilled Worker, International Graduate stream. This stream targets international students with in-demand skills for British Columbia’s labor market.

In addition, the province issued a minimum of 200 ITAs for skilled workers & international graduates across five different in-demand employment sectors. These were:

  • Childcare – requiring a minimum score of 60 in order to be invited.
  • Construction – requiring a minimum score of 75 in order to be invited.
  • Healthcare – requiring a minimum score of 60 in order to be invited.
  • Tech – requiring a minimum score of 108 in order to be invited.
  • Veterinary Care – requiring a minimum score of 60 in order to be invited.
  • Alberta

On February 6, Alberta issued over 44 Notifications Of Interest – the equivalent of ITAs under the AAIP to applicants with professional healthcare experience through the ‘Dedicated Healthcare Pathway With Alberta Job Offer’.

In order to be invited, applicants need to have healthcare experience within the province & obtain an employment offer from an employer in Alberta. The minimum cut-off score to obtain an ITA was 302.

  • Prince Edward Island

PEI issued 121 Expressions of Interest to Labor & Express Entry applicants in the PEI PNP.

Applicants were considered if they were working for a PEI Employer & had a minimum EOI score of 65. Over the last 12 months, the province has invited 2,307 applicants, with 2,253 Expressions of Interest going to Labor & Express Entry applicants, along with 54 going to Business Work Permit Entrepreneur.

How Can You Increase Your Chances At Obtaining An Invitation Under PNP?

While many Provincial Nominee Programs have reserved pathways for those who have some connection to the province, obtained a job offer, or have personal family ties to someone in the province/ territory of that PNP, all PNPs have streams for in-demand professions that meet their location’s labor market needs.

Therefore, newcomers looking to immigrate to Canada might find some specific benefit to tailoring their professional experience to the province/ territory that needs it. In fact, it is the key reason for the existence of PNPs across Canada. Provinces even post in-demand professions to attract newcomers who can fill these crucial labor gaps.

By 2025, PNPs will overtake Express Entry as Canada’s primary pathway to welcome new immigrants, signaling their continued importance to the nation’s overall economic strategy.
