Three Canadian provinces have recently nominated applicants in PNP draws.

The Provincial Nominee Program was established in the year 1998 & exists to help the government select economic immigration applicants who are likely to settle within the nominating province & contribute to the local labor force & economy.

In addition, provinces can do this because immigration is a shared responsibility between federal & provincial governments. At the same time, applicants who accept a provincial nomination must still apply to IRCC individually to attain PR status. Well, being nominated by a province is highly advantageous when a PR application is approved.

This is specifically true if a PNP applicant is in the Express Entry pool. Express Entry applicants who are accepted & approved for a provincial nomination obtain an extra 600 points via CRS – a process also called enhanced nomination.

These additional points virtually guarantee that an Express Entry applicant will obtain an ITA in an upcoming round of invitations. The minimum CRS score required was around 791. However, the minimum score is generally less than this.

PNP Draws Results: September 30 – October 5

Here are the PNP draws results from September 30 to October 5. Take a look!

  • British Columbia

BC invites applicants to BC PNP every week in numerous separate draws.

On October 4, the province invited 110 applicants in a general draw. This means that no specific professions were targeted.

The minimum score to obtain an invitation varies depending on the program stream an applicant has chosen. Those from the Skilled Worker stream were required to score 111 points, International Graduates needed a score of 113, & Entry-level and Semi-Skilled applicants required a minimum score of 60 in all three draws. The outcomes are as follows:

  • 51 early childhood educators & assistants
  • 25 healthcare professionals
  • Less than five other priority professions
  • Alberta

On October 3, there were over 33 applicants nominated via AAIP, i.e., the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program.

The applicants were selected from the Priority sector, i.e., the Agriculture profession with Alberta job offer category. Moreover, they were all Express Entry applicants.

The minimum CRS of 313 was needed to obtain the nomination. This draw follows the first-ever Express Entry category-based selection draw for the Agri-Food & Agriculture experience.

Furthermore, in many ways, the introduction of category-based draws reflects existing PNP streams from across the nation & allows the federal government to streamline economic immigration applicants to fill urgent job vacancies.

  • Prince Edward Island

PEI invited over 20 applicants via the Express Entry & Labor category of PEI PNP on October 5.

All applicants were working in the healthcare & food processing sectors.

Moreover, the province has been holding draws since July 20. Until then, all draws were general & did not target any particular profession.

In addition, the province has invited 505 applicants since July, primarily targeting applicants in food processing, healthcare, construction, & manufacturing. Well, it has also invited applicants in draws for undefined critical workers.
