Canada’s three provinces, BC, Ontario, and Saskatchewan released this week’s PNP results. Eligible candidates received invitations in the latest provincial nomination.

In Canada, 11 out of the 13 provinces and territories utilize Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), with Nunavut and Quebec being the exceptions. These PNPs empower regional governments to select skilled immigrants who are best suited to meet the local labor market demands and address demographic challenges specific to their areas.

It is important to note that immigration responsibilities in Canada are shared between federal and provincial/territorial governments. However, Quebec does not participate in the PNP system. This is due to a special agreement between Quebec and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which grants Quebec greater autonomy in managing its economic immigration policies. This agreement allows Quebec to have a more significant influence over the selection and integration of immigrants to better cater to the province’s unique economic and cultural needs.

BC Ontario and Saskatchewan released this week’s PNP results

Ontario

On June 11, 2024, Ontario, through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), issued invitations for the first time in nearly two months, conducting two distinct draws.

In the first draw, 124 invitations were extended to individuals qualified to work as early childhood educators and helpers (NOC 42202) under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. Candidates needed a score of 43 or higher to be eligible.

In a separate targeted draw under the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream, the OINP issued 120 invitations on the same day. This draw also targeted candidates for early childhood education and assistant positions, but required a minimum score of 65.

British Columbia

As part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), British Columbia held another general draw on June 11. The province sent out 39 invitations to immigration hopefuls in five different BCPNP streams during this draw. These streams included Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, International Graduate, International Graduate – Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option, and Skilled Worker. The draw on June 11 required candidates to obtain a minimum score of 131 for all streams. The Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream, however, required a minimum score of 110. This requirement reflected the pattern seen throughout 2024.

Saskatchewan

On June 13, 2024, Saskatchewan held its first provincial immigration draws through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). This was the first draw since March 2024.

In the first draw, 88 candidates with work experience in certain jobs were invited under the SINP’s Express Entry stream. These candidates needed a score of at least 88 to qualify.

In the second draw, also on June 13, 32 more candidates were invited through the Occupations In-Demand stream. Like the first draw, this one targeted people with specific job experience and required a minimum score of 88.

Both draws only considered candidates who had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) or were educated in Canada.
