Five Canadian provinces issued invitations in the latest PNP draws this week. Provinces nominate immigration applicants via the PNP. Obtaining the PNP nomination implies that an applicant has a stronger application when they apply to IRCC for PR.

Moreover, applicants might be eligible for numerous pathways within the Provincial Nominee Program, depending on their attributes. For instance, most provinces have pathways for international student graduates or applicants who already have an employment offer in Canada.

Provinces can select & nominate a certain number of economic immigrants every year because the provinces, as well as IRCC, share responsibility for immigration in Canada. Provincial governments can select applicants best suited to the local economy & workforce & integrate effortlessly.

All provinces & territories participate in the PNP except for Nunavut & Quebec. Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government, which allows total autonomy over the selection of its economic immigrants. However, IRCC still makes the final decision about permanent residency for those selected by Quebec.

The overall target for PNP permanent resident admissions is set out in the annual Immigration Levels Plan. In addition, Canada will admit over 110,000 immigrants through the PNP in 2024 & 120,000 every year in both 2024 & 2025. IRCC further breaks these targets down & divides them among the provinces based on economic need & population.
