IRCC has conducted the latest Express Entry draw, issuing 800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in a category-based round focused on French-language proficiency. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 478.

Canada held its third Express Entry draw this week, just days after the November 13 draw, which issued 400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This draw coincides with the unveiling of the Immigration Levels Plan for 2025, which sets an ambitious target of 124,680 new permanent residents through Express Entry.

The ITAs issued today will count towards next year’s targets under two distinct categories: the new “In-Canada Focus” stream or the Federal Economic Priorities stream.

The In-Canada Focus category is designed to grant permanent residency to 82,980 individuals in 2025, benefiting temporary residents currently living in Canada. This stream represents about 40% of the total planned economic immigration admissions and is expected to largely include candidates from the CEC and PNP pathways.

The Federal Economic Priorities stream, with a goal of admitting 41,700 individuals, focuses on candidates from various Express Entry programs who are most suited to meet urgent labor market needs. Priority will be given to individuals addressing shortages in key fields such as healthcare and skilled trades, or those who contribute to Canada’s goals for French-speaking immigration outside Quebec.

An Overview of Express Entry

Express Entry is Canada’s online system for managing applications to three major immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Candidates are scored through the CRS, which assesses age, job profile, language ability, education, and professional experience. Additional points may be awarded for family ties in Canada, a spouse’s credentials, or combined international and Canadian work or education experience. Those nominated through a provincial enhanced PNP stream gain 600 bonus points, virtually guaranteeing an ITA. High-ranking candidates are invited to apply in category-specific Express Entry draws.
