IRCC has sent ITAs in the most recent Express Entry draw. IRCC Invites 911 PNP Candidates in Latest Express Entry Draw. Candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 732 to qualify for consideration.

The first draw of the month is today, following a hectic summer. The IRCC held 14 separate Express Entry draws in July and August. Notably, nine draws were held between July 2 and July 31 in July, setting a new record for the most draws in a single month since the system’s launch in 2015.

Moreover, 3,330 applicants were invited to the most recent Express Entry lottery, which took place on August 27 and was intended primarily for participants in the Canadian Experience Class.

IRCC has initiated a biweekly draw schedule, with a minimum of one draw reserved for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. This is in line with the earlier announcement made by the IRCC to concentrate on increasing the number of “domestic” draws. The goal of this is to decrease the number of new temporary residents entering Canada while increasing the chances for current temporary residents to become permanent residents.

Understanding Express Entry

Express Entry, a comprehensive immigration management system introduced by the Canadian government in 2015, offers a streamlined pathway for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada. This system is designed to select candidates whose skills and qualifications align with the country’s labor market demands.

At the heart of Express Entry are three primary economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Each program caters to individuals with specific qualifications and experience, such as skilled work experience, Canadian work experience, or skilled trades expertise.

Furthermore, to assess candidates’ suitability, the CRS is employed. This system awards points based on various factors, including language proficiency, work experience, education, occupation, and age. Candidates with the highest CRS scores are more likely to receive an ITA for permanent residence.

In addition to the federal programs, the PNP provides another avenue for immigration. Some provinces offer enhanced nomination streams aligned with Express Entry. A PNP nomination significantly boosts a candidate’s CRS score, increasing their chances of securing an ITA.

To address specific labor market needs, category-based selection draws were introduced in 2023. These draws target candidates with in-demand skills in areas such as healthcare, STEM professions, trades, transport, agriculture, and French-language proficiency. The minimum CRS requirement for these draws is generally lower than for program-specific or general draws.

Moreover, the Canadian government regularly reviews these categories to ensure they remain aligned with evolving labor market trends and demographic changes. Also, this approach helps to attract skilled workers who can contribute to Canada’s economic growth and social prosperity.
