What Is Express Entry?

Express Entry manages three programs, i.e., FSTP, FSWP, & CEC. These programs represent one of Canada’s most popular pathways of economic immigration into the country.

This system assesses applicants based on human capital factors, like professional fields, work experience, age, language capabilities, & education. Depending on these factors, the CRS assigns a score & ranks these applicants. Moreover, those with the highest scores are more likely to obtain ITAs.

IRCC recently declared a new set of selection criteria on May 31, laying emphasis on the demographic & professional attributes of applicants over their CRS scores. As a result, this gave rise to six new categories for Express Entry applicants:

  • STEM professions
  • Healthcare
  • Transport
  • Trade
  • French-language proficiency
  • Agriculture/ Agri-Food

These categories aim to fill urgent job openings in the Canadian workforce & promote the use of the French language outside the province of Quebec.
