Newfoundland & Labrador immigration fairs will continue this week. The province hosted a virtual immigration fair for people in the Middle East & South Asia.

Signing Up, Meeting Employees, & More

Newfoundland & Labrador immigration fairs will continue this week & individuals can sign up for free on the provincial immigration’s website. The sign-up process is quite simple, with no extra software to attend.

The event will begin with an overview of what provincial immigration pathways are offered to newcomers. In fact, individuals taking part in the fair will be able to conference with the immigration officers from the province. Also, they will be able to ask questions regarding the immigration process, lifestyle, salaries, cost of living, etc.

Moreover, one of the most significant advantages of this immigration & job fair series is the ability to meet & network with different prospective employers in the province. Participants can upload a copy of their resume, which is accessible to employers at a fair.

The ability to connect with employers is specifically useful for those looking to immigrate to Canada. Well, the biggest immigration intake of newcomers to Newfoundland & Labrador is via economic pathways that often need pre-arranged employment. Therefore, finding a job in the province can be a major benefit for those seeking to settle in Canada.

Applicants who are unable to attend the event at the scheduled time can access the recording of the fair. It will be available for those who have signed up until February 24th, 2024.

What Documents Do I Need To Immigrate To Newfoundland & Labrador?

While there can be some variations depending on the individual circumstances, the pathway that an applicant selects for immigration will generally require the following:

  • An educational credential assessment to assess how their education compares against Canadian standards
  • An English language proficiency exam. Note that IELTS & CELPIP are presently the only Accepted English tests
  • Work experience letters confirming relevant & recent work experience. These letters must include the job title, salary, main responsibility, & end date of employment
  • Evidence of funds, like recent banking statements confirming that applicants have sufficient money to cover immigration fees along with their initial settlement in the province
  • A color photocopy of the bio-data page of the passport
  • Any other immigration pathway-specific documents that might be required

What Fees Must Be Paid When Applying For Permanent Residence?

As Newfoundland & Labrador immigration fairs will continue this week, individuals must know the amount of fee to be paid for PR. Significantly, applicants must be aware that there are two sides to immigration to a province, i.e., federal & provincial.

At the provincial level, applicants might apply under the Newfoundland & Labrador Provincial Nominee Program or the Atlantic Immigration Program, which does not collect fees.

On the federal level, once candidates are approved under the NLPNP or AIP, they will have to pay the associated fees for a work permit & for permanent residence processing. As part of this, candidates will also have to pay biometric fees & their employer might require them to pay compliance fees as well.

Fees will be clearly labeled throughout the application process.
