Ontario, BC, & Manitoba invite applicants in PNP draws this week. Because immigration is a shared responsibility between provincial & federal governments, provinces are able to select economic immigration applicants that they feel will easily integrate into the labor force & local economy.

A nomination makes an applicant’s permanent residence application quite stronger when applying to IRCC. Moreover, provinces are allocated a limited number of nominations they can use to invite applicants. The number of nominations a province allocates for newcomers depends on factors like the local economy, population, settlement services, etc.

All Canadian territories as well as provinces have PNPs except for Quebec & Nunavut. Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government, which gives it the authority to select all its immigrants instead of just an allocated amount.
