Canada’s three provinces, Ontario, BC, and Manitoba, invite candidates for provincial nomination.

Created in 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) aims to guarantee that the benefits of immigration are shared across the country. It accomplishes this by dividing up immigration responsibilities between the federal government and the governments of the provinces and territories. One of the main routes for qualified professionals to immigrate to Canada these days is the PNP.

A provincial nomination greatly raises an applicant’s prominence even though it does not guarantee PR status. To get PR status, nominees must still apply to the IRCC.

Nonetheless, a candidate’s application gains a lot of significance from a provincial nomination. Express Entry candidates who receive one gain an additional 600 points under the CRS. This almost guarantees them an ITA in a future draw.

Provincial Immigration Results – October 5-11

Ontario

Candidates qualified for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream were invited by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on October 8.

Those working in skilled trades received a total of 885 invites; a minimum score of 48 was required.

Under the same stream, the province also held a targeted draw in which it sent 841 invites to applicants who had job offers in priority occupations. Applicants required to score at least 52 in order to be eligible.

British Columbia

Through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate stream, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited approximately 173 applications on October 8. Industry-specific minimum scores were needed for selection. In the childcare industry, for instance, 44 invitations were sent out with a cut-off score of 83, whereas 25 candidates in the construction industry needed to receive a minimum score of 89. 21 invites were sent out to candidates in the healthcare sector who scored at least 99, while 83 candidates in the tech sector required a minimum score of 116. Furthermore, with a cut-off score of 80, fewer than five invites were sent to the veterinary care industry.

Manitoba

Three different draws were held by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) on October 10.

The initial draw explicitly used an occupation-specific selection to target candidates in the Manitoba Skilled Worker stream. With a cut-off score of 845 points, it invited 82 people who had finished their post-secondary study in Manitoba. 114 applicants were invited by the province on the same day under the International Education stream.

In addition, 38 individuals were called to a lottery for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. In order to be eligible, candidates had to receive an invitation from the MPNP as part of a “Strategic Recruitment Initiative” and a minimum score of 711.
