In the most recent Express Entry draw, IRCC issued 4,000 ITAs exclusively for candidates in the Canadian Experience Class. Candidates had to have a minimum CRS score of 509 in order to be eligible. This design draws attention to the continuous chances that the Express Entry system in Canada offers to talented immigrants.

Today’s draw was the third of the month and followed two last weeks in which 911 candidates were invited from the Provincial Nominee Program, and 1,000 candidates were invited in a category-based selection draw for French-language proficiency. This was the largest CEC draw since the draw on July 31, which issued ITAs to 5,000 candidates.

Today’s draw features a slight increase in CRS scores compared to the last CEC draw. In the most recent one, on August 27, candidates needed a minimum score of 507.

Express Entry Explained

Launched in 2015, Express Entry is an application management system designed to expedite the immigration process for Canada’s three main economic programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. The CRS, which assigns point values based on numerous in-demand human capital variables like language competence, education, job experience, age, and vocation, is used by all of these programs. A strong CLB score in both English and French, immigration with a spouse or partner, and having a sibling living in Canada can all get you extra points. A candidate’s overall CRS score is determined by adding up their scores for these categories, making candidates with the highest scores the most likely to be selected for future Express Entry draws.

In order to meet the nation’s demand for talent across a range of industries, the IRCC implemented category-based selection draws the previous year, which were intended to attract Express Entry candidates with certain talents or qualities. To achieve this aim, officials chose six categories: French language proficiency; healthcare; trades; transportation; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions; and agriculture and agri-food. Following stakeholder engagements, officials created these categories to fill workforce gaps in Canada and achieve demographic goals, such as encouraging French language proficiency among immigrants relocating outside of Quebec to communities with a French minority.

A candidate has sixty days from the moment they obtain their ITA to provide the IRCC their completed application. For processing these completed Express Entry applications, the department has established a six-month service standard.
