British Columbia & Manitoba invited applicants in recent PNP draws. These draws took place around the time IRCC introduced new selection categories for Express Entry candidates, including those who are also in the Provincial Nominee Program.

IRCC asserts that not every draw going forward will be for new categories, and Express Entry PNP draws will continue to occur.

It is vital to note that the selection category draws many PNP streams. All the provinces and territories in Canada hold numerous PNP draws to invite applicants in specific NOC, i.e., National Occupation Classification Codes. For instance, there are PNP immigration streams in many provinces, particularly for healthcare & tech workers. For example, British Columbia has targeted draws for these workers almost every week.

In addition to the recent PNP draws, one must note that Immigration is a shared personality between provincial & federal governments. The PNP enables the provincial government to nominate immigration candidates for PR. It also allows provinces to target candidates who can help fill job vacancies.
