Six Canadian provinces invite applicants in PNP draws except for Quebec and Nunavut. A PNP nomination strengthens an applicant’s application for permanent residency when they apply to IRCC.

However, Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government & has total autonomy over the number of economic immigrants it might select for permanent residence.

New Immigration Levels Plan & Strategic Immigration Program

Every year, IRCC releases an Immigration Levels Plan to set a target for the number of permanent residents invited in the forthcoming three years. Moreover, the overall target is divided among IRCC’s immigration programs as well as pathways.

The latest Immigration Levels Plan 2024-26 was released on November 1. Well, it shows that in the next year, IRCC will be admitting over 110,000 immigrants via the PNP and 120,000 in both 2025-26.

In addition, the plan is primarily based on IRCC’s recently released Strategic Immigration Program. The program highlights three key pillars for improving efficiency at IRCC, thus making it quite easier for immigrants to settle. Moreover, it also results in coordinating the growth of immigration levels with infrastructure requirements as well as settlement services.

Well, IRCC plans to meet its targets by speaking with relevant stakeholders, provincial and federal governments to understand the local needs better. As a result, this will ensure that newcomers have everything they need to integrate while improving affordability & balancing the needs of all Canadians.
