The DLI programs for international students include Canada’s three most in-demand careers. These careers include human resource management, mechanical engineering, and development.

Moreover, it is expected that international students coming to Canada may lean towards opting for educational programs. As a result, these programs will prepare them for successful careers in these sought-after fields.

In the hope of offering new students with this goal, the government is creating DLI programs for international students to help them obtain careers in Canada’s most in-demand industrial sectors.

Below are the most popular universities with DLI programs for international students in each Canadian province, as stated by QS World University Ranking.

  • McGill – Montreal, Quebec
  • UBC (University Of British Columbia) – Vancouver, British Columbia
  • University Of Toronto – Toronto, Ontario
  • University Of Alberta – Edmonton, Alberta
  • University Of Manitoba – Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • University Of Saskatchewan – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
  • Dalhousie – Halifax, Nova Scotia
  • University Of New Brunswick – Fredericton, New Brunswick
  • Memorial University Of Newfoundland – St. John’s, Newfoundland
  • University Of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) – Charlottetown, PEI

The government approves all these educational institutions to welcome newcomers. In addition, studying at these institutions will help the students get a post-graduation work permit, thus enabling them to acquire the necessary Canadian work experience to gain PR.

Job 1: Developers

Randstad, an employment agency & consulting firm, generated a list of the top 15 jobs in Canada. Out of them, developers were in the first position. The agency further asserted that the developer design and code programs are based on the user’s needs, i.e., from smartphone apps to accounting programs of business to operating systems.

Basically, the people in this role have a computer science educational background. Moreover, all ten institutions having DLI programs for international students primarily offer computer science programs.

NOTE: Memorial offers general estimates instead of program-specific values regarding tuition.

At the UPEI, i.e., University Of Prince Edward Island, an entire year of tuition fee for undergraduate foreign students is almost $6,750 for science programs.

In addition, recent data from the University of New Brunswick states that students in computer science programs (undergraduate) will pay $19,360 annually. Finally, at Memorial, Newfoundland, international student’s tuition is $20,000.

Among the assessed DLIs, the most expensive programs are offered at the University of Manitoba ($77,196) and the University of Toronto ($60,510).

Note: The University of Manitoba offers every tuition fee on pre-credit. This has further been multiplied/ amplified to know the annual tuition fee.

Job 2: Human Resources Managers

Randstad states that HR management is the second most in-demand job across Canada. Professionals in these roles oversee the company’s HR, i.e., human resource functions, like recruitment, workforce management, etc.

All the universities have DLI programs for international students in human resources. In addition, some institutions offer a four-year undergraduate program, while others offer certification programs that can be finished within one year.

However, the cheapest HR programs are offered in:

  • Dalhousie: $3,135
  • University Of Prince Edward Island: $6,750
  • Memorial: $20,000

NOTE: The HR management certification program at Dalhousie includes three courses each for 12 weeks.

On the contrary, the two most expensive HR programs offered by these DLIs are found explicitly at McGill University & University of Manitoba.

At McGill University, the undergraduate tuition annually is $63,693 for students pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce. Meanwhile, tuition costs around $85,999 annually for students studying Management at the Asper School Of Business at the University of Manitoba.

Job 3: Mechanical Engineering

The third-most in-demand career is that of a mechanical engineer in Canada. These professionals help develop and design machines to solve complex human problems. Mechanical engineers also assist in seeking ways to control and automate manufacturing systems, thus resolving environmental issues as well.

The cheapest DLI program for international students in mechanical engineering is offered at the UPEI, i.e., University of Prince Edward Island, the UNB, i.e.,

University of New Brunswick, and Memorial. The annual tuition is as follows:

  • University of Prince Edward Island: $6,750
  • University of New Brunswick: $21,337
  • Memorial: $20,000

Once again, the University of Toronto and Manitoba offer the most expensive tuition charges for foreign students seeking to study mechanical engineering.

At the University of Toronto, annual international tuition is $65,410 for students opting for Applied Science Programs. Meanwhile, the University of Manitoba has a tuition cost of approx $77,196 per year for students in science programs.
