Today, this is one of the top destinations in the Keg Steakhouse Franchise. Initially, the Keg Mansion was once a private domicile of Hart Massey & his family.

The story goes: In 1915, after the demise of Lillian, the only daughter of Massey, one of the housekeepers was so heartsick & traumatized that she hanged herself.

Another story is that the maid killed herself because she feared her romantic affair would be revealed.

In any case, the spectral profile of the maid committing suicide was seen over and over by many backpackers. With this incident, the place came to be known as haunted!

  • Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Another one of the haunted places in Canada is Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Well, if you think that Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho or the Overlook Hotel in The Shining was frightening, then visit this place once!

Banff Hotel Spring is one of the most scenic hotels in Canada, but it’s also the most haunted.

Built in 1888 by Canadian Pacific Railway, this place houses many chilling ghost sights, like the slain family in room 873, a bride who perished by falling off the staircase, a retired bellman who roams in the hotel’s hallways in his uniform, etc.  So, would you dare to go to such a location where people have encountered ghost sightings?

  • Fairmont Chateau Laurier

Business tycoon Charles Melville Hays hired this place but died a few days prior to its grand opening of the hotel in 1912 on board the Titanic.  Since then, the spirit of this business tycoon has been widely seen wandering around the property.

Well, let’s be honest, if we had also invested our time & money in constructing such a lavish castle, only to die a few days before, we would probably be inclined to return!

  • The Old Spaghetti Factory

Well, it seems that the ghost of the train driver still plagues the popular restaurant on the old underground track!

People here have experienced unfathomable chilly drafts, rearranged table configurations, and much more. Moreover, if you search the internet, you can find a photograph of a dismantled electric trolley in the dining room in the 1950s. The image even hints at an eerie figure, which probably might be the train conductor, standing on trolley steps.

  • Hockey Hall Of Fame

Before serving as the shrine of Canada hockey, this building was once a Montreal bank.

Folklore states that a forlorn/ desolate accountant, Dorothy, died after the bank manager turned down her romantic overtures. The ghost of the lady now haunts the Hockey Hall Of Fame.

Some visitors have even claimed that they heard a woman’s incomprehensible sobbing sounds throughout the building. Spooky, isn’t it? A wailing woman!

  • Craigdarroch Castle

Another one of the most haunted places in Canada includes the Craigdarroch Castle. Constructed in the 1890s for coal miner Robert Dunsmuir & his family, this mansion of the Victorian age became an unusual tourist destination in Canada.

Stories of piano playing on its own & sightings of the ominous white woman have often been reported. In addition, many ascribe/ connect the mystical inclination of the castle to the untimely death of Dunsmuir, i.e., a year before the building construction was finished.

  • Plains Of Abraham

In 1959, Major General James Wolfe, along with British Soldiers, carried out a three-month blockade against the French army of Quebec City, which resulted in a battle in the Plains of Abraham.

Known as one of the most skirmish sites in the history of Canada, it is no surprise that ghostly soldiers have been sighted in various tunnels & fields.

Both French Major General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm & Wolfe were killed in this battle & we can’t help wondering if their minds are still fighting this battle today or not!

  • Maritime Museum

The departed seem to love this place as it’s called ‘newly-wed & almost-dead’

Once a prison & guillotine, the Maritime Museum is situated in Victoria’s Bastion Square. Some people say that when you look out the windows at the doorway to the museum, you can witness a shadowy, bearded figure zipping down the main staircase. Well, it is considered the mysterious specter of Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie, also known as the ‘Hanging Judge’ of Victoria.

  • St. Ann’s Academy

Ann’s Academy is a former convent school presently owned by B.C. Situated on Humboldt Street in Victoria, the academy was a Roman Catholic Cathedral constructed in 1858.

People claimed that the nuns were seen wandering the grounds in the morning. The original graveyard is still present on the ground & the nuns are buried inside.

In addition, visitors also claim that they saw an apparition of Emily Carr, a celebrated artist & writer of Victoria. Emily Carr is said to haunt many city locations, like the government street home where she lived, James Bay Inn, etc.

  • St. Francis Xavier University

St. Francis Xavier University was built back in 1853 & merged with Mount St. Bernard College in 1894. Well, it was one of the nuns working in Mount St. Bernard who fell in love & had a romantic relationship with St. Francis Xavier’s priest.

Since religion forbade this kind of thing, she was humiliated. Unable to live with the guilt, she jumped from the balcony of Gilmore Hall. Presently, employees & students refer to her as the Blue Nun. It is believed that she haunts the halls & residents living on the campus. In addition, she also knocks on the doors, turns on the hoses, knocks down the books, & even appears sometimes!

Government House is one of the most haunted places in Canada. Recently renovated to its foreign splendor, the place was the estate of the former Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Today, visitors can take a tour & soak up its history & distinctive architecture. Moreover, you may witness one of its resident apparitions if you are fortunate enough.

Without creating much suspense, let us tell you – a ghost named ‘Howie’ might be waiting for you. He is often seen in the kitchen & is suspected to be the ghost of Archibald Peter McNab’s former cook. Howie is also suspected to be the reason behind ghostly footsteps, the closing & opening of doors, movement of objects, & many other activities.
