Three provinces invited applicants in the latest PNP draw. This week, invitations to apply for provincial immigration programs were issued by British Columbia, Quebec, and Manitoba.

Both British Columbia and Manitoba invited people to submit Expressions of Interest for their most recent Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws. All provinces and territories have PNPs in place to make it easier to choose applicants for economic immigration who are thought to be well-suited for a smooth transition into the employment.

Since immigration is a shared responsibility, the federal and provincial governments work together to make the PNP effective. Provinces are given a certain amount of nominations each year to offer to deserving applicants.

A provincial nomination gives a candidate an advantage over other applicants when they apply to IRCC for permanent residency.

On the other hand, Quebec functions under a separate arrangement with the federal government, which gives it the authority to choose all of its economic immigrants. As a result, the Province of Quebec abstains from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). As part of their immigration procedure, candidates in Quebec are instead encouraged to apply for a certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).

British Columbia

British Columbia invited 68 applicants to apply for the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) this week through four separate draws depending on occupation. These attract specific applicants from the International Graduate and Skilled Worker streams, which also include BC Express Entry. June 4 was the date of the draw.

With 33 invitations, the tech industry received the most of all the occupations. Interestingly, the lowest score required for candidates in this area was 122, the highest of all requirements for jobs.

The outcomes of the other three draws were as follows:

  • Thirteen invitations were issued to individuals meeting a score threshold of 100 in the healthcare occupations draw.
  • Eight invitations were extended to candidates scoring at least 93 in the childcare occupations draw.
  • In the construction occupations draw, fourteen invitations were offered to candidates achieving a minimum score of 93.

Quebec

Quebec published the results of a draw that took place on May 30 this week. They usually releases draw results after the fact.

Quebec invited 1441 people who satisfied the following requirements to apply for permanent selection in this draw:

  • Achieve a score of 591 points or higher.
  • Priority consideration is given to candidates with a valid job offer outside the territory of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

Manitoba

A total of 254 Letters of Advice to Apply for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) were distributed by Manitoba on June 6. In this issuance, 35 LAAs were specifically directed towards candidates who disclosed a valid Express Entry profile number and a job seeker validation code. These candidates received special attention in the selection process.

Moreover, three different categories received different Letters of Advice to Apply. Out of these, Manitoba’s Skilled Workers (with an 834 score) received 134 LAAs. Candidates in the International Education Stream were granted 74 LAAs. No minimum score was required for eligibility in this stream.

In addition, 45 Letters of Advice to Apply were sent to applicants who applied via the Strategic Recruitment Initiative-assisted Skilled Workers Overseas Stream. A minimum score of 708 was required for candidates to be eligible in this area.
